Hi, my name is Simon Cole. I'm a freelance illustrator & designer based in the United Kingdom, and I love to create original artwork. I have a passion for almost all artistic media, and this interest has molded me into a very versatile artist. I can turn my hand to pretty much anything and relish a new challenge. Whether it is websites, illustration, 3d modelling, print or photography, I enjoy creating beautifully designed artwork.
My background has covered many areas, from games to websites (corporate & creative) and illustration to print. I have achieved several degrees in traditional & digital art, the latest of which is an MA in computer games design.
Having won a competition for my games design I pursued work as a games artist within Electronic Arts (EA) and Criterion Games. However, due to the short-term contracts I decided to branch into freelance web design in order to take control of my career. I successfully gained multiple design contracts and built up a good reputation during this time, and after a couple of years I was offered work within the Berkeley Group as lead designer. I accepted, and now 2 years later I have honed my website designs, and expanded my skills to include Flash, css, xhtml, jQuery and W3C web standards.
Outside of work?
- I enjoy snowboarding whenever I can
- I am engaged to my lovely fiance Heidi
- Computer games sometimes take over my life, so I have band myself from playing online RPG's!
- After a hard days work I enjoy a nice cold Guinness with friends
- My favourite place to eat is Wagamamas (Yaki Soba!)
- I get really anyoyed at people who chew with their mouth open!
- My favourite film is Spirited Away
